Thorough-bred Singaporean and Asia's up and coming jazz flutist, Rit Xu was awarded 1st prize in the Juniors Division at the Thailand International Jazz Conference Solo Competition 2011. He also won the US National Flute Association's Jazz Masterclass Competition during the 39th annual NFA Convention at Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently pursuing his Bachelors of Music (Honours) in classical flute performance at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore (NUS), his flute playing can be heard on various national and international events such as the annual Chingay parade, the inaugural Youth Olympic Games 2010, the Marina Bay SINGAPORE Countdown 2010/11, Grand Opening of the Marina Bay Sands and most recently, the soundtrack to Taiwanese epic movie Seediq Bale which won the 48th Golden Horse Award for Best original film score. He continues to hone his craft and will soon be releasing his debut album as a uniquely Singaporean jazz artist.
